One time when we were broke we only had a 17” clap stack blank on the shelves, so we made an ultra-light crash with a hand-formed bell and a turk finish. The result was a crash cymbal with a very fast decay, dark complex wash, and high frequencies similar to that of a flat ride due to the shallow hand-formed bell. This cymbal was our way out of poverty.
