Unique one-off cymbals

20" Woodstock ride

Weight: 2167g
Hammering: medium
Tension: medium
Bell: pressed bell - efes
Patina: black turk
Profile: med/low

The Woodstock Ride features a raw and dark surface patina, a pressed bell, and sparse hammering that allows the cymbal to breathe. Immediately present is its dark, dry, yet clear stick attack. Beneath that is a subtle dry wash that is full of life. When you crash the cymbal, its lower frequencies are activated, adding some warmth to an otherwise very dry cymbal. We think Jack might have liked this one when playing with Keith in the 80s.

20" Truck ride

Weight: 1900g
Hammering: medium light
Tension: medium/low
Bell: modified pressed bell - Mel Lewis
Patina: heavy - sulfur, acid
Profile: low

The Truck ride was born from a beautiful accident. We had a 22” ride cymbal we were working on that cracked near the edge, so we turned it into a 20” ride cymbal. This left a larger bell than usual, giving the cymbal a unique character. We think this cymbal might be great if you play music requiring more precise articulation, such as breakbeats. It’s also pretty good for jazz but you guessed already probably. The name “Truck” comes from literally nothing.

15" Deeper Sea hats

Weight: 1013g Top // 926g Bottom
Hammering: heavy, dense
Tension: high
Bell: extra modified pressed bell TOP // hand-formed bell BOTTOM
Patina: medium - acid
Profile: crazy

The Deeper Sea hats are a rework of another pair of experimental hats that we used to make called Deep Sea. This version has an even more exaggerated triangular bell shape on top, while keeping a wider and shallower bell on bottom. Also, this is our only pair of hi-hats where the top cymbal is heavier than the bottom cymbal. The hats have a very deep, rich, crunchy tone; sounding like they’ve been resampled and pitched down artificially. Initially, they sounded like booty for months. But then as they aged and we had more drummers coming to the shop and trying them, we realized that some drummers really liked them, eventually landing in the hands of Karriem Riggins who now uses them as his main hi-hats.

22" Something Purple ride

Weight: 2585g
Hammering: medium/light
Tension: medium/low
Bell: modified pressed bell - traditional
Patina: light - sulfur
Profile: medium/low

Something purple is a dry medium ride with a strong stick attack and a wash like earl grey tea. Phil used the tiniest hammer in the shop to test the strength of his own masculinity. When lathing the cymbal, some of the original turk finish was left. Then when oxidizing the cymbal, it turned purple like some cymbals do in the humid summer shop environment. We’re describing the steps of making this cymbal because we really didn’t have a plan, and then it sounded pretty good, and somebody bought it. You get it.
